Jesus - My Substitute

We had an incredible day as our kids participated in our BGMC Bike Day fundraiser. People around the world will be impacted by the work and giving that came together at this special time. Through BGMC, many supplies, equipment, and literature are provided for missionaries to use in helping people. Thanks to all who participated!

------------------------------------------

We also took time to talk about Jesus taking our place -- being our substitute -- when it came to paying the price for our sin. (Thank you, Jesus!)

Here are some verses to read about that:

Romans 6:23,
Romans 3:22-26
Galatians 3:13

Because Jesus took our place, sin and death and the penalty for sin have all been taken care of by him, for us. Take time to think about that today, and give praise to God for being your substitute.

Jesus, Our Shepherd

Jesus loves you and cares for you. He provides all of your needs. He wants to guide you and direct you as you walk along your path of life. Psalm 23 tells us about how Jesus cares for us.(Take time to read that today)

Read John 10:1-5 and 11-16 too. It tells us that we are like the sheep of Jesus' flock. We need to listen to his voice and then follow Him!

Take time today to listen to what He has to say to you. You can do that as you read your Bible, pray, and just take some "quiet time" away from other busy noisey things.

Thank him for being your good shepherd! He loves and cares for you.

Who Is Jesus? My Best Friend

Do U have a BFF?

When Jesus came to earth, he came because he wanted to restore friendship between you and God. He loves you so much! Before you even KNEW him, he KNEW you and LOVED you! Romans 5:8 talks about that. Take a look at that verse. Also, John 15:13.

1 Samuel chapter 20 tells about two best friends - David and Jonathan. They went through a hard time, but still cared deeply for each other. This is a great friendship you can read about. They ended up having to split up...

One thing you can know about Jesus, He wants to be your BFF. Yes, Best Friend FOREVER. And he said that he will never split up!

Hebrews 13:5 records, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

In Matthew 28:20 Jesus says, "...I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Take time to talk with him and listen to him. Know that he's not going to leave you even when things are hard. He wants to be your BFF.

Jesus - My Example

Kids look for people to follow. They look up to all different kinds of folks...
...football players,
...singers,
...music groups,
...baseball players,
...NASCAR drivers,
...television stars,
...grandparents,
...dads,
...moms,
...coaches,
...and more.

But, the greatest example you can follow is Jesus. Often, when people ask me what part of the Bible they should read, I tell them to start with the book of Mark. We can learn alot about Jesus life, attitudes, words and actions by reading the books called "the gospels." (Mark is one of them.)

Take some time today, and think about Jesus. What was he like? What should you change in your life and attitude to be more like him? If you pray about that, he will talk to you and help you know too.

God bless you this week!

Falling Down

Hey there!

Ever fall down and go "boom!"? Ouch! It hurts to fall.

Adam and Eve "fell down" when they chose to do what they wanted instead of obeying God. That's called "sin." And Romans 3:23 says that all of us have done that. We've sinned. We've had wrong attitudes, wrong thoughts, and wrong actions.

The bad news is -- When you or I sin, it causes us to be spiritually separated from God. Ouch! That hurts.

The good news is -- Jesus paid the price for our sin and disobedience so that we can be forgiven, and now have a new relationship with God. That's awesome!

When Jesus paid the price, it wasn't with money, or a checkbook, or a credit card. He used something FAR more valuable. He used His very own blood! People can live without money...but they cannot live without blood. Jesus used his own innocent, precious blood to pay the spiritual price for our sins. But, he did NOT stay dead. He came back to life. And now we can talk to him and ask for forgiveness, and he freely gives it to anyone who sincerely asks.

Romans 10:9,10 says, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified (made right), and it is with you mouth that you confess and are saved (from the penalty of sin)."

If you have not done that yet, you can pray right there where you are! You don't need to wait until you are at church. God hears you when you pray it and mean it.

You may read more scriptures about Jesus paying for your sins right here:

Matthew 26:28
Romans 8:1,2
Colossians 2:13,14
Hebrews 7:27b
Hebrews 10:10
