The Truth About Lies

Some people think that lying is okay if it helps them get something they want. We see many times in the Bible when people made the bad decision to not tell the truth.

You may read about Annanias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-10. Also, you may read about Gehazi in 2 Kings chapter 5.

Remember Proverbs 21:6. "A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare." It is not worth it to lie!

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists 7 things God hates. Two of them have to do with lying!

Satan is a horrible being, and one of the bad things about him is that he lies ALL the time. (See John 8:44.) Do not follow the devil's example. Be like Jesus and speak the truth!

God Has A Plan For You!

Today, our guest "Big Dan" Rector talked with us about Jeremiah 29:11. Do you remember it? Take a look in your Bible to find it.

Also, do you remember the story of the three trees? What were the different things that they wanted to be? ...and do you remember what three things they ended up being?

Sometimes, our plans are not exactly what God has planned. But, if we will love Him, and serve Him, he will direct our paths so that everything can work together for good! (See Romans 8:28.)

Have a great week with Jesus!

Seeds of Discord

What thoughts are being planted in your heart and mind?

When a person plants seed, that person is called a sower. Read here about a person who planted bad seeds: Matthew 13:24-28.

When people say bad things about others, it's kind of like planting seeds of THORNS in other people's minds. Those bad words/thoughts can separate close friends. That's called "sowing discord, " or "sowing seeds of dissension."

God is not pleased when people say bad things about others, whether those things are true or false. Proverbs 6:16 lists seven different things that God hates. (Take a moment and look at that.) The last one that's listed is "...a man who stirs up dissension among brothers."

"Dissension" simply means, making other split up. God wants us to work together doing the right things. He wants Christians to work together in unity. Don't listen to people who are saying bad things about other people. It makes God mad when people talk like that.

Listen to the good, and encourage one another by saying good things!

Christ In You

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world... - 2 Peter 1:3,4
God wants to work inside us and place his "divine nature" in our very hearts and souls. When a person asks Jesus to forgive him of his sins, that old sinful part is done away with. Just as Jesus died on the cross to get rid of sin, in the same way, we are to spiritually "kill" the evil desires that we sometimes have.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." The Spirit of Christ works in us when we invite Him too!

Here's a few more verses to read about this:

Galatians 5:24,
Romans 8:9,10,
2 Corinthians 5:17,
and Colossians 1:27 (This is the one for which we learned sign language. Remember?)

Each day we need to say, "Jesus, I will live for you. I will die to my own selfish desires. I choose you and your way." And the Holy Spirit will help you to do it!

Snow Blast Event

We just had an incredible weekend with guest speaker, Del Wilson. On Sunday morning Del told us about Galatians 3:13. It says, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law...."

We know that through sin a curse came upon the world and upon mankind. This first time the curse came upon us is found in Genesis 3. Take some time to read about it right there.

Thankfully, Jesus came to earth and paid the price for us. 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 says, "You are not your own; you were bought at a price." Because Jesus paid the price, we are no longer under the curse of sin.

The curse of sin is separation from God. ...and that separation may last for an eternity.

I'm glad Jesus paid the price for you and for me!

All we have to do is what it says in Romans 10:9,10 to be set free from that penalty for sin. Go for it!

God bless you today! We love you.
